Pet Policy Committee

A committee was formed to determine if Splendid Acres needed a defined pet policy.  At this time the committee has recommended that the development follow the guidelines of Warren County.  If you have been bitten by a dog in the neighborhood please contact the owner immediately.  You may also file a report by calling 911 as well with authorities.  Warren County recommends reporting the incident to Warren County Health Services Administrator  Phone: 515-690-9190

Warren County, Iowa has several pet policies, including: 
 
Number of pets
A household can have up to four dogs that are six months or older. Kennels with five or more dogs are permitted in the Agricultural (A) and Rural Residential (RR) Zoning Districts with a Conditional Use Permit. 
 
Identification
All dogs in Warren County must have an identification tag with the owner's name, address, and vaccination records. 
 
Leashes
Dogs must be leashed or restrained when off their owner's property or on public property. 
 
Dog Bites
Dog owners or local law enforcement must immediately report any dog bites to the Warren County Health          Services Administrator. 
 
Domesticated Animals
Privately owned domesticated animals must be leashed, carried, or kept under the owner's control in Warren County Conservation areas. Horseback riding is only permitted on vehicular roadways.
